Vicente Safón es catedrático de Organización de Empresas en la Universidad de Valencia, institución en la que se doctoró en 1996. Su investigación se centra fundamentalmente en el análisis de las decisiones estratégicas adoptadas por las empresas y sus consecuencias en los resultados financieros y no financieros, así como en el papel que juegan los equipos directivos en esa relación.
También trabaja la reputación organizativa, especialmente en el campo de la educación y la ciencia. Los resultados de su investigación se han publicado en algunas de las principales revistas de las áreas del management, la educación y la bibliometría como Academy of Management Learning and Education, Long Range Planning, International Business Review, Journal of Small Business Management, BRQ Business Research Quarterly, European Journal of International Management, International Journal of Disaster Risk Reduction o Scientometrics. Ha sido investigador principal de proyectos del Plan Nacional de I+D y de la Generalitat Valenciana.
