The Chair of Family Business at the Universitat de València (CEFUV), promoted by the Asociación Valenciana de Empresarios (AVE), EDEM Escuela de Empresarios, IVEFA, the IEF – Instituto de la Empresa Familiar, and the Universitat de València, with the collaboration of CaixaBank and Broseta, held the conference “Strategy and growth in family firms: a corporate governance approach” at EDEM.
The session featured a keynote lecture by Professor Ruth Aguilera (D’Amore-McKim School of Business – Northeastern University), who explored the role of the board of directors in the strategy and growth of family firms, providing valuable academic insights.
In addition, the roundtable, moderated by Alejandro Ríos (Partner and Head of the Valencia office at Broseta), brought together leading figures from the business community, including Rubén Martínez (President of Hinojosa Packaging Group), Paco Gavilán (President of Nunsys Group), and Ruth Aguilera herself, generating a rich discussion closely connected to the reality of family businesses.
The session provided an opportunity to reflect on the main challenges and opportunities faced by family firms in an increasingly complex and changing environment, highlighting the importance of strong governance in ensuring their growth and continuity.
