On 25 March, Professor Eric Clinton (Dublin City University, Ireland) delivered a seminar entitled “Managing the Liability of Legacy in Family Firms” as part of the PhD programme in Business Management.

During the session, the concept of the ‘liability of legacy’ was discussed, which refers to the constraints that can arise in family businesses due to the weight of their history and traditions. The results of a qualitative study conducted in Irish family businesses were also presented, highlighting the importance of balancing the preservation of legacy with the capacity for adaptation and innovation to ensure their long-term sustainability.

The event was attended by participants both in person and online.
